"Classic UB40 sound, familiar yet new"
The dubbed out effects are crucial and the horns are second to none. A lot of the songs have very catchy lyrics that just stick in your head. UB40 is one of my all time favorite bands and to hear them coming out with such high quality music for so many years just warms my heart. UB40 does not have the classic Jamaican Roots Reggae sound; they have their own UK interpretation of Reggae. An interpretation filled with meaningful lyrics, soulful jams and amazing vocals.
Track 3, "Bling Bling" has to be my favorite song on the CD. "Diamonds and pearls they don't mean anything, all that I want is already here." That is what it's all about, true love.
Lyrics to live by. I especially like track 4, "Plenty More".
Track 8, "Gotta Tell Someone" is a super sweet love song with cute lyrics. You gotta hear it. And track 9 ads a little Indian Bollywood in the mix. Pure niceness.
The album follows suite with its title, "Who Are You Fighting For?" Most of the lyrics on the CD are about love and war, and questioning why? Which is a great question. Why kill each other for oil, land, religion, and ideas… These things are plentiful in our world. What about love? The album says if you haven't found it, what are you waiting for?
The CD makes its point loud and clear, why? And all I can say is " Why haven't you bought it yet!" This is the best album of 2006 so far and I would bet you will see UB40 at the Grammy's next year because of it.
